New Enrolments

  • We love meeting new students.
  • The best time to enrol is at the start of the year; however we accept enrolments in Terms 1, 2 & 3 where vacancies permit.
  • Fees are calculated pro-rata from a new student's trial class.

Open Days

  • All PointCookDance classes are open for viewing during the last week of terms 1, 2 & 3.
  • Family and friends are invited to come along and watch us in action.
  • Strictly no photos or filming of classes please.

Performances

  • PointCookDance provides students with as many performance opportunities as possible. As well as our end of year concert, we love to participate in community events, charity performances and competitions. Some performances engage the whole school, others involve selected groups.

Costumes

  • Most PointCookDance performances are costumed. A costume deposit is due at the end of term 2. This enables us to get costumes underway in plenty of time for the end of year concert.

Assessments

  • PointCookDance students can be assessed in Classical Ballet, JazzFunk and Tap
  • Assessments are usually held in Term 3 at our studio. Teachers will advise which students are ready for assessments.
  • Regular attendance for at least 15 weeks for Levels 1 - 3 and 20 weeks for Levels 4 - 8, plus extra practice at home are essentials.
  • Assessments are not compulsory.

Competitions

  • There are a series of dance competitions and eisteddfods held in Victoria every year. The competition season usually commences in June.
  • PointCookDance students wishing to enter dance competitions should take up classical ballet training for at least two years prior to preparing for a competition in any style. Students can be prepared for competitions in Classical Ballet, Jazz, Demi-Character and/or Lyrical/Contemporary. Competitors can perform a solo, duo, trio or troupe. Private lessons, small group lessons or troupe classes can be arranged at the start of each year to prepare for dance competitions. Each competition dance requires a separate costume.
  • Southern Federation of Dance has an annual Choreographic Competition in October. Students choreograph their own dances. This is a fantastic introduction to competitions because the costumes can be basic and the students are judged solely on their composition skills rather than their technical ability. Dances can be in any style and may be a solo, duo, trio or troupe. Please contact the office for further information.
